	SoleusAir 13,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner , Dehumidifier, Heat er, # LX-130D (Misc.) We bought this unit 6 months ago to try and cool our 2nd floor (3 rooms). I set the unit to 70 degrees and it would constantly freeze up (meaning, ice would form after about 1 hour). I noticed that the unit drew more air in than it blew into the room. Giving the unit the benefit, I sealed everything in the room as tight as I could (insulating, foaming, etc) and closed off the other 2 rooms. It managed to cool that one room (12 x 16) but still would ice over on days of 100+ degrees (unit set for 70 degrees).Heat pump: I turned it on in mid October. Today (December 10th), all of the lights on the front panel were blinking on and off and the unit would not turn off using the control panel power button. I unplugged it from the wall and left it sit for an hour. Plugging it back in (an hour later), the unit would run but all of the lights were flashing on and off with no control over the power.[...]I am awaiting customer service to contact me to see how they will react to the 1 year warranty. I will try to post what has happened to keep consumers informed.

	SoleusAir 13,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner , Dehumidifier, Heat er, # LX-130D (Misc.) I bought this unit two days ago when the temperature in a recreation room (fully insulated, measuring 35′ x 17′ or 595 square feet. Note: unit is rated for 550 square feet) over my garage reached temperatures of 98 to 100 degrees in this latest heat wave in New Jersey. The reason I purchased the ‘Soleus Heat Pump Air Conditioner ‘ is because I wanted the duality of an air conditioner and heater.The set up was not difficult, the window assembly kit that fits in the window had to be cut down, as required in the instructions to fit the window. That took about 5 minutes to measure and cut. Total set up time was about 35 minutes. Of that time twenty minutes were spent trying to understand the directions.The instructions are not the best. There is a hose for draining water from the unit that is not mentioned anywhere in the instructions. The unit has Control Panel and Digital Display that is easy to use and a Remote Controller. The unit also has a timer and louvers that will oscillate up and down to circulate the air. What is not mentioned in the general instructions but under the Remote instructions is that the timer and oscillator can only be accessed through the Remote. However, none of this is insurmountable. After a few minutes of flipping back and forth between pages it can be figured out.The venting kit that comes with the unit should have supplied some gasket material to put between the exhaust panel and the window. Luckily I had some sponge rubber gasket to assure a good seal. Also, it is a tight fit between the window sill and exhaust hose that fits into the window kit.After I had the unit up and running I insulated the flexible PVC exhaust hose as per the instructions. The hose becomes quite warm and the heat from it will radiate back into the room, so insulating it makes sense.Today as I am writing this, July 22 2011 at 1 pm, it is 101 degrees outside in the shade and very humid. In the room over the garage ‘Soleus’ unit is maintaining a constant 82 degrees with 54 percent humidity. I consider that good, the main part of my home has central air set at 72 degrees and it is struggling to maintain the temperature at 74 degrees.I consider the ‘Soleus’ unit to be working pretty good for a portable air conditioner with extremely high temperature outside. I expect better results when the temperature gets down to the low 90′s where it is more normal for summer here. Portable One

Soleus LX-140 14,000 BTU Portable Evaporative Air Conditioner With Heat Pump (Kitchen) This product is too LOUD for any room.When I contacted the seller (Air & Water) there return prosess was beyond belief. I had to re Double Box the unit and ship it at a cost of approximately $382.46 and the unit cost was $489.90 a differance $107.44.The shipment arrived in a ONE WAY carton, removal of the unit from shipping packaging required the package be distroyed.$107.44 is a big difference for return of a $489.90 product.I plan to contact the manufacture and inform them of their vendors return policy.I believ Air & Water (seller) should inform buyers about the noise level on this product (NOT FOR BEDROOM)

	SoleusAir 13,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner, Dehumidifier, Heater, # LX-130D (Misc.) Bought this unit in spring 2010 and used it for about a year now. I have only used it to cool not heat.Installation: Unit comes with an adjustable 5′ tall PVC vent. I had to cut it down to fit my small window which was not a big chore. After that it was pretty much attach the vent hose and plug it in.User interface: The buttons on the unit are pretty simple my only gripe (and it is minor)is that the fan speed indicator on the LED is represented by a series of blinking squares and they blink faster and it’s not really clear what fan speed your on so I pretty much go by the feel and noise which is good enough.I don’t ever use the remote but i did play with it a couple times and it does not seem to like you using a combination of the controls on the unit and the remote. If i turn on the unit using the power button on the unit instead of the remote power button it wants to ignore the remote. but honestly i haven’t used it enough to sort out what the problem is.COOLING: the unit cools pretty good it doesn’t cool quite as well as i hoped it’s rated at 12.5 KBTU but I’d say it seems to perform more in par with a really good 10 KBTU machine. It’s a little nosier than I hoped but it’s not horrible for a unit like this.WATER DRAINAGE: The best thing I can say for this machine is that is super great at blowing water out with the exhaust and I never have to drain it. When I first got it after a couple days of operating I noticed a puddle on the floor by the plugged drain. So I got really worried I was going to have to be draining this thing constantly which would be a real pain since the drain is only about 3/4′ of the floor. However after I took out the plug and drained a little water then put the plug back in it’s never leaked or needed draining again. My guess was that the drain plug was just not in good enough and it now evaporates all the water out the vent.

	Whynter 13,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner, Frost White (ARC-13W) (Kitchen) Last summer I bought three of these units to cool my house as I have casement windows and window units do not work for me. Two of the units work fine and one had the same problem many complain about. It would fill with water and then shut off. After 2 days (during the hottest weather of course), it would not function at all. I called and they gave me the same answers that they give others but did agree to have it sent back for repairs as it would not come back on in any mode. Not easy to pack it up and send it back but we did. Three weeks later I got a refurbished (maybe my own) unit back and it did the same thing, did not automatically dry the water out and shut off constantly but was functioning. We have tried this unit in all three places so it is the unit as the other 2 do not have this problem but the company claims it is too humid, WRONG, they don’t want to fix the problems with some of their units. I have the bad unit elevated and have a tube that drains into a mid size kitchen waste basket and need to empty it 3 time a day or it overflows. This defeats the purpose of the sleek design because it is not an attractive set-up having to do this to keep it running. I am disappointed and would not recommend buying this unit as the company does not stand behind their product. I have an LG for my office and have had no problems with it. Do yourself a favor and look at other manufacturers that do not have these complaints as the complaints are real! Window 10000

It’s about 270 sq. feet of space with 8′ceiling. This unit fit just perfect in the existing spot that the old one was in. It looks great and I hope it lasts as long as the old one (8years). SPT WA-1000E 10,000-BTU Portable Air Conditioner with Remote Control (Kitchen) First, I received my SPT WA-1000E 10,000-BTU Portable Air Conditioner with Remote Control from Amazon.com on time and with out any damage whatsoever.Installation in my upstairs office area only required cutting a few inches off the 4′ plastic window interface panel with a jig saw to fit. The resulting panel remains readily adjustable so I can now relocate my unit to a much larger window with out any further size modification.The air conditioner started immediately and with in minutes began exhausting cooled air at about 50 degrees. The remote control works exactly like it should, permitting adjustments of fan speed, mode of operation (fan only or cooling or as a dehumidifier), and temperature settings from about 25 feet away.I chose to not install a 2nd-story condensate line to drain accumulated moisture continuously, instead opting to manually empty the accumulator (which is very easy to do) about once a day, depending on how much it is operated.As for price, my total cost was the best I could find anywhere.
